Questions
What people ask first
Do you take my insurance?
Salve is in network with some health plans, and which plans a clinician takes can differ. We check yours before your first session and tell you what we found. We do not take every plan, and we say so plainly.
Will my employer find out I am coming?
We do not report to your employer, and we do not contact your manager, human resources or occupational health. If you use a plan from your employer, the plan may send statements to the person who holds the policy; ask us about paying yourself before you decide.
What is a Good Faith Estimate?
If you pay without insurance, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate of the cost of your care before you start. We give you one in writing. If a bill is $400 or more above the estimate, you can dispute it. The estimate is not a contract.
How do fees work, and can I use an HSA or FSA card?
Your fee depends on the clinician and the length of the session, and it is given in writing before you start. Yes, you can pay with a health savings or flexible spending card. A limited number of reduced-fee spots are held, so ask when you write.
Can I use a superbill to be reimbursed?
A superbill is a monthly itemized receipt that we can give you on request. You send it to your plan to ask for reimbursement. A superbill may be reimbursed, but your plan decides. It carries a diagnosis code that your plan sees.
What happens in the first session?
Fifty minutes to meet your clinician and talk about what you would like from therapy. There are no tests. You decide nothing that day, and your clinician explains confidentiality and its limits.
How often do we meet, and for how long?
Sessions are 50 minutes. Most people meet weekly or every other week, and your clinician sets the pace with you. We do not promise a number of sessions.
Are you licensed where I live?
Our clinicians are licensed in Arkansas. We see you at our Little Rock office, or by video while you are in Arkansas. If you will be in another state, we cannot see you by video there, and we will help you find someone licensed where you are.
What do I do in a crisis?
Call or text 988, any time. In an emergency, call 911. Salve is not an emergency service, and our messages are not monitored around the clock.
What is confidential, and what are the limits?
What you say in a session stays between you and your clinician. We release information only with your written permission, or where the law requires it: for example, a serious risk of harm to you or someone else, or the abuse or neglect of a child or a vulnerable adult. Your clinician explains this before you start.
Can you see my teen?
Salve sees adults, 18 and older. We can suggest where to look for a clinician who works with teens.
What is your cancellation policy?
Your fee letter says how much notice we ask for and what happens if a session is missed. We know shifts change at short notice, so tell us as early as you can and we will go through it with you before you start.
Something else?
Write or call and we answer in plain words.
